Shows the coast and interior of Dahomey (later Benin) during the Atlantic slave trade, outlining the native kingdoms of Ouidah (previously Iuda, Juda, or Whydah), Grand-Popo, and Ardrah, the French and English forts at Ouidah, and selected other settlements, including Xavier, Jaquin, Porto-Novo, Papeguay, and Appa (later Epe). Villages shown pictorially. Also includes untitled inset views of a native king giving audience and a royal residence.
